12" AlBook Latch Problem

Okay...I've had this thing less than a MONTH and my latch isn't working 
correctly.  It was fine until yesterday evening.  I haven't dropped it 
or anything.  Here's what's going on...when I close the lid, the latch 
that descends from the top of the screen into the latching mechanism 
below the trackpad is coming out on it's own.  I have to close the 
screen, and then tap the top of the PowerBook where the latch is, and 
then it will latch.  It's a minor irritation, but still irritating.  I 
am going to at some point send it in to Apple to be repaired, but right 
now I can get by tapping the lid.  I'm kind of waiting to see if 
anything else goes wrong before I send it in.  Have any of you had this 
problem on any of your PowerBooks?  Is there anything I can do to 
correct it myself w/o having to send it in?  At least I have my iMac to 
use while it's in the shop.  I hate being w/o a computer.
