sound-line in

Hi all,

I am having trouble with the line-in (recording) on my tibook. At least 
I think its trouble, its not working.

I bought a head set and microphone Plantronics audio.60, the headphones 
work fine and
my built in microphone works fine. I plugged in the microphone line to 
the line port on my tibook and set the line in option in the system 
preference.  I couldn't get any response using any software.  iTunes or 
system pref audio...nothing.

So I am figuring that the line in port is not working.  Any ideas on 
this?
Is there anyway I can check without having to send my tibook to an 
apple authorized dealer?
I still have warranty coverage till Jan 2004.

I checked the Plantronics site and it shows the Audio.60 as working 
with the mac system, however, maybe there are specific microphones that 
need to be used?

Any suggestions are welcome.
