One thing to watch out for with Panther and an original PowerBook G4 400/500Mhz, is that if you use firewire drives, you may have problems with 10.3.2. I (and a couple others I've talked too) have experienced jumpy mouse behavior with random clicks/drags when doing large firewire Finder copying. 10.3.1 does not have this problem so I've had to stick with it for now, since I normally have 3 external firewire drives mounted and do lots of video copying. I've not heard of it affecting newer models, just the original 400/500Mhz.
