Firewire 800 limits?

Does anyone know of any limits daisy chaining F800 devices. I have put 
three IDE drives into external 800 cases. When any of them are 
connected individually, they work ok. Any two work ok. When all three 
of them are plugged in at the same time, my system stops (either with a 
panic or just plain stops).
