There's a huge difference between 'silly', as you put it, and 
ignorant, offensive stupidity.

Besides that, it was off-topic. Not list material. The fellow needs 
one or more of the following:

1) A history lesson
2) Psychiatric help
3) An education
4) Membership on a LISTESERV for ignorant types who are proud of 
their ignorance
5) Substance abuse counseling
