It reports what the drive's S.M.A.R.T. monitoring system tells it.  
Have you tried rebooting the machine?  S.M.A.R.T. status is recorded at 
boot time or drive spinup after being asleep.  It's not monitored 
during normal operation because part of the test is to measure spinup 
time of the drive's platter.

Reboot and see what it says.
