When you're in the business of selling BMW cars, you don't take an engine out of a BMW and drop it in a Chevy so you can sell more BMW engines. In case anybody doesn't know it, Intel's WiMax 802.16 wireless broadband technology is much cooler than their [boring] power-hungry processor lineup. Imagine this - Apple talks to Intel about using Intel chips to incorporate 802.16 technology into their hardware. Now, _that_ I can see. Here's a new rumor somebody can send to CNET: Apple is out to kill off the Mac line of computers forever so they can just become an iPod company. His Steveness has enough money to retire anyway, and he doesn't need Apple anymore. Moving to x86 will do the trick, and finally Paul Enderle can jump up and down in glee (not over the Mac's demise, but the fact that the Enderle Group might have one tiny shred of credibility now). This all comes from a reliable source that can't be named, of course. -- Chris
