If I understand you correctly, you are still using the original
battery that came with your G4?
Amazing !!

My Ti-500 battery only lasted about 2 years.

I have already replaced the battery in my Al-125 after just over a
year, not that it had failed but had deteriorated enough to warrant
replacemnt, and for retention as a spare battery, which I need. The
lifetime of a charged battery has always been hopeless (< 2h) from
the beginning with the Al-book. I understand why (that the battery
capacity has not kept up with the power consumption of faster drives,
hotter and faster cpu, birghter screens, etc) but 2 h is really not
enough for anyone travelling. So my spare -even if only giving 50%
capacity - just about bridges the gap.

With a new battery, your no warning situation will surely cease.
