I'd give that a re-think. The major 'downer' with the shortest firewire cables is 'strain on the actual connection', at the plugs. The inevitable twisting that occurs can cause shorts, which send power to data, which burn firewire ports, which mean mobo swaps, or a tech with amazing soldering skills (if you're luckier than nearly anyone that this has happened to.) Been there, my friend, with a 40 dollar cable that was exactly the length you're talking about. You probably aren't aware of what a pain in the arse a Ti-Book without internal firewire access is like. I'll take the extra few feet of clutter, thanks. :) My new Aluminum is happy to hear that, too. brian s
