coconutBattery is excellent. xBattery is another good
one, it can graph out your cycles over a time period
you specify. Cycles is the most important indicator of
battery age. I should note the battery I bought was an
actual Apple Ti battery for my G4800 NIB, hence my
concern about it's "freshness".

If indeed you can get a real TiBook battery from
Apple, I would hope those are fresh stock...
