[Ti] problem re: printer

Am I missing something?   I am helping a friend who has a wireless  
network (cable modem to extreme b/g)  she wants to set up an express  
upstairs to connect a USB  printer to it, a Photosmart C5580.  The  
printer works fine when connected directly to her laptop but doesn't  
work at all through the USB port on the Express. Is this something  
that I shouldn't have expected to work?
