[Ti] frozen cursor

TiBook 800 Mhz-1G ram -160G hd


What would cause the cursor to lock in a position at the upper left corner
of the screen after a shut down and restart. The annoyance is worked around
by rebooting 2 or 3 times.Is there a remedy other than what I'm doing?
