Yes and no. Rendezvous, by definition, is a way of finding local 
resources automatically. Generally any resource (computer, printer...) 
in the same local area network as you. So, you can't use Rendezvous to 
automatically find someone outside your "area".

iChat, however, can be used to chat with anyone, anywhere who has an 
AIM compatible chat client.
