[X Newbies] eMac can't keep time

I find when that happens it helps to sync the clock online. However, I 
too have a new eMac which is not doing very well here, crashing 
constantly.

I also have a question about "repairing permissions" -- how did they 
become damaged in the first place? Is this from my going into the INFO 
boxes and flipping the permissions tab so I can open files I was denied? 
It's a mess.
