Thanks for your help everybody. I had forgotten about that "little matter" of the firmware update! I had her run Software Update and sure enough there was a firmware update which she downloaded. She's nervous about installing it (the firmware update), so I'll do it when I get over there tomorrow. Back to my original question: Can I just install Jaguar, or do I need to set up her "current" OS X first? Thanks again everyone. You saved us (her especially!) from almost certain disaster!
