[X Newbies] color files in a folder

Are you sure you have rights to all these files?  I can select a whole
slew of "robg owned" files at once and apply any of the colors to them
via either the contextual menu or the File -> Color Label item. But if
any of those files are "read only," then the label option is disabled...

I want to color all the files in a particular folder (using Panther). I 
can do one at a time but there should be someway to do them all at 
once. I select all and the color buttons are grayed out. Can any one 
tell me how or tell me it can't be done.
