[X Newbies] Printer problems on X

i have had  this problem  several time before. what worked for me was to delete the HP driver from the printer utility window and add it again. maybe this is not the same thing as you are experiencing. i use Freehand MX daily my printer is a HP 1220C.

Please can someone help on this one.
An iMac on 10.2.8 printer HP 1220C connected via USB.

It was printing fine - then stopped printing never to print again. Says in
the print utility window that the job has stopped and when you push start it
jumps back to stopped again! Downloaded the latest printer driver from the
HP site and installed it. That helped and all was well till we tried to
print from FreeHand and the stopping occurred again. Now it wont print at
all again even from Text edit!

Is there some sort of pref that has corrupted and needs to be chucked out?
Tried the repair disk permissions - did not fix the problem.

Please am desperate!
