Can't communicate with 3000

I just installed the new Epson 3000 driver for OSX, and while the Print
Center recognizes the driver and lists the 3000 as the active printer,
communication can't be established. I am advised by the dialog to restart
the printer, which in most cases I have just done.

Restarting in 9 and choosing the 3000 results in no-problem printing. I
have twice reinstalled the driver. Any ideas?
