[X-Newbies] Scanner

I have a 1250 scanner that I used to use successfully on my imac. I 
recently got a new emac which runs 10.3.6 and can't get the computer to 
recognize the scanner. I am trying to use it with photoshop 5.0 le in 
classic but I get a message that the scanner is not hooked up to the 
bus. It is and  the cables are good as well as the connections. I have 
installed the twain driver from the cd but it is not being recognized.
Any suggestions.
