If you are not building a website and only want to download images to
your desk top, "control key" + "mouse click" on the image and choose
"download image to". You can download to your desktop or to a folder
you have made up in your "users".

iPhoto has the option for slide show second icon after print on the
bottom of the window.

If you wish to use iPhoto to view your pictures, you can choose it to
be the default application to open pictures. Or just open iPhoto and
click import and it will import from your camera.
again, click on import and choose pictures you want to import

what did you do exactly? Import is under File

Sorry, I don't do windows and don't know what is a draw?

Preview is not the application of choice IMO. Use iPhoto to view and
use Graphic Converter to edit as it has more editing options. You can
save your pictures to a "new folder" in your user documents. From
there you can "open" from the applications or "import" or just drag and
drop in whatever application you wish. Hope this explains further.
