[X-Newbies] OS 10.4.2 and the eMac: incompatible?

Can anyone explain why OS10.4.2 cannot be installed on an eMac? I've 
installed it on an iMac G5 and a Mac Mini with no trouble at all. The 
eMac is
a first-generation bare-bones machine with far too little memory, issued 
to faculty members by our dean. [Could memory be the problem?)
