What do you get when you do a "Get Info" on a Photoshop document? i.e., what application is associated with it? This is a software problem; hardware would not cause these symptoms. Do you have a program such as File Buddy which allows you to see the file type and creator codes of files/applications? What does the Photoshop application's codes look like when viewed with one?
