How does one tell SuperDuper to ignore things it can't read? I see nothing for this under preferences. I seem to have solved the immediate problem, as long as I haven't created another one. I shut down all apps except Finder. Trash still wouldn't empty. I unplugged the network cable and restarted the computer. Trash then emptied. I then tried another backup and it worked this time. I will have to see if I need to re-install java, which is where the corrupted file was. Peter
