[X-Newbies] Cd/DVD doesn't work on IMAC G5

Hi team,

I hope this list is still working.

We have an  IMAC G5 (2 years old). Not intel chip.
I discovered tonight that it "refuses" CDs/DVDs.

The CD goes in, doesn't appear on the destop, stay in a few seconds  
and gets kicked out.
I tried a few CDs/ DVDs, they all did the same.
Is it harware or software? What should I do?
