[X Servers] Authentication

Well you are correct, Active directory as a component in directory
services. And Active Directory uses LDAP v3
I am not looking into mapping home directories
I just want the Mac users to use Active Directory Domain accounts to
logon to the network

Maybe I am just not configuring it correctly.

Also I do not have and OSX server to use in this proccess

I thought that was what "Directory Access" in the utilities folder 
allowed you to do -- i.e. define you authentication protocol and method.
Sure it doesn't have Active Directory but if Active Directory supports 
LDAP or Radius requests would that work?
