Think of the left side of the DU window as a type of sidebar, like in the finder. When you create a DMG, it gets added to that sidebar, _in case_ you want to do something more with it. Only those you create from DU show up there, as well as any you manipulate directly with DU. To remove it, just drag it off - poof!
