I'd take a look at afp548.com and see if that has some info that is  
helpful.  I know they have good info on working with LDAP and Mac OS  
X, on Open Directory, etc.  I think there's some sort of tool to  
migrate address book contacts to an LDAP database that might be  
helpful to you.  If you can't find the answer, you may be able to  
post on their forums and get some help that way.

Anyway, that's where I'd look first.
