[X-Unix] lookupd

Does anyone know if it is possible to run Jaguar or Panther without
lookupd? If so, what is the best way to disable it?

I can't find a directive for hostconfig that appears to control it. The
DirectoryServices startup script doesn't seem to control it either even
though it is listed in the script. DirectoryServices appears to be a
running process, separate from lookupd.
