Put "disabling lookupd" into Google and there's an extensive post about 4-5 down entitled "Is it possible to run a Darwin/OSX system without lookupd?" TjL ps - when asking a new question, send a new message rather than hitting REPLY and changing the Subject. Otherwise it screws up threading.
