[X-Unix] Owner/Group changes depending on login?

diskutil info /Volumes/Vol

    ...
    Owners: Ensabled/Disabled

I know of a bug in the OS where the UID of files on external volumes is different if you read the catalog information as a regular user vs. root. I suspect that it applies to files written with an earlier version of the OS as attempts to reproduce the problem have failed on my system.
