[X4U] DVR to DVD on 'book

I have a 15' AL 1.25 ghz PowerBook. We are running a Motorola DCT6208 
high-def cable receiver/DVR, which has FireWire out.

Motorola has a link  to instructions for downloading and using 
software to get the digital video into Windows XP.

How do I get this DV into my PowerBook? Is there special software 
needed? I have iLife and Toast, but would like the DVD to be 
full-screen, not a smaller window as QuickTime would produce.
