Yes.  I've got a 9W2074 model (160GB) that we use.

It depends on your definition of good.  My definition of "good" for 
hard drives means that they are not dead and are producing any 
read/write/data errors.

We have not had any problems with it so far and we have been using for 
almost a year now.  Just plug and go when we need it, on Windows 
systems too.  I don't use the built-in backup software that it comes 
with, so I actually find the little button on the front to be annoying. 
  I keep thinking it's the power button, not the "back up now" button.  
Other than that, no complaints.

As for chipset, according to this page on Seagate's site, it's the 
Oxford 911 set.
