[X4U] Default application association problem.

Nope, but not having a choose option appears to be a Thunderbird
shortcoming-I don't use it, so I'm speculating. Most apps give you the
"choose" optiion. You might want to check at
<http://www.mozilla.org/support/thunderbird/> and the associated FAQ link.
