Now it seems it does take a charge, but the Mac has refused to mount the iPod. I'm now thinking that there's something wrong with the FireWire port. Or is that unlikely if the iPod can take a charge, that it has to be a software issue? And is there anyway to tell for certain if it's a dying hard drive short of reformatting? Thanks, Mitchell
