Might need to preserve permissions. AFAIK, I think the latest Cocktail doesn't destroy that by default anymore. Now there's an item in the "Misc" tab of the "System" pane, called "Rebuild Launch Services database". Don't know if that's actually rebuilding anything or what. I've been using a very excellent freeware that came out recently, called Yasu: <http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/13416> and on it, I have unchecked a box labelled "Reset trusted applications" very nice! -Craig
