It appears that Safari now tries to open ftp links in the Finder, which doesn't seem to be looking for me. mount_ftp, the system tool that Finder uses to connect to an ftp server remains a one-way (download only) connection in Tiger even if you connect with a username and password and also have the required permissions. As such it's useless for, say, maintaining a web site or connecting to a Linux box. Learn to use curl or find a third party app like Interarchy or Fetch. Actually raw ftp from Terminal.app can do uploads. I suspect that mount-ftp is purposely emasculated in the name of (Steve's) security. ********* And while I'm at it. I tried to install Tiger on a case sensitive HFS+ file system. Yes, newfs -s will make one of those without using OS 10 Server. The installer doesn't complain but the result won't boot. It was the same in Panther but I sort of hoped it would get fixed. Case sensitivity is nice if you're forever working with a UNIX box somewhere else. -- --> The best programming tool is a soldering iron <--
