Check it out with >Preferential Treatment, repair the disk when booted into the other >installation, and repair permissions. I ran the Preferential Treatment - listed a couple of corrupted .plist so I deleted them manually, rebooted and still the same problem. I then booted up from OS X10.4, ran Disk Utility to verify the disk - result, no problem. Booted back to main partition ran Repair Disk Permissions - ok. Then I restarted the main partition on Safe mode and ran Apple Jack - found two corrupted files in Users' folder. So I opened the Preferences in in Users folder and to my surprise, I found two folders - Preferences (422 items) and Preferences Copy (154 items). I removed the Preferences Copy folder to the desktop. Can I trash this folder? Later in the evening, I installed a router so that I can connect to the Internet from both my Mac and a newly purchased Windows XP machine. I went out to have a bite to eat, two hours later, came home, opened Mac and now I have no problem printing. I don't know what happened, but my partition running Tiger is OK so far in all aspects. Oh yes, there was one more thing - in ~/preferences/printers there were five icons for BJ F850 and one of them had Apple Script icon. I deleted all five icons and copied the BJ F850 icon from the other partition with Tiger and pasted it. Is it okay for me to trash the Preferences Copy folder? -- All the best, Kay Narumi Tokyo, Japan
