I've an MDD G4, running OS10.3.9. The original drive is 80 GB. I just installed a new copy of the identical drive, totally empty, primarily for backing up purposes. I don't use much room, as you'll see ~ my original H.D. has a shade over 7 GB on it. Less than 10% full... While my usage might change, right now I think I'd be hard put to use much over 30-35% of it, ever. So, can I partition the new 80 GB drive 50-50, and use the first 40 Gig partition for backup purposes? Will my backup software (I know, that's yet another question, however...) accept backing up 8/80ths of a drive onto a new drive that only has 1/2 the original space? Always have wondered that, and now I am faced with the reality of doing it. Is the answer simply "no problem?" Sounds too simple! ;-) keith whaley > > On May 23, 2005, at 4:58 PM, Kevin Willis wrote: > >> I am interested in partitioning my 120 GB hard drive into 2 60 GB >> drives.
