I suspect there are many who disagree with you on this. To be honest, I don't know of iChats improvements. But Instant Messaging in general, I think can be very productive. I work with a few people scattered around the country. We "chat" off and on all day. It's much easier and quicker than composing emails, easier and cheaper than the phone. Just makes it easy to pass back and forth questions and answers regarding different things all day so much easier.
