[X4U] Programs won't run

I am unable to get iPhoto, Carbon Copy Cloner or utilities to run. The
programs act like they start but then just hang.

I started from the system install disk and repaired permissions, but still
no go.

System preferences also will not open account settings.

Software installed recently was Stuffit 10, Go Live CS, Illustrator CS and
Photoshop CS.

Any hints would be greatly appreciated.
