Are you plugged into an uninterruptible power supply? If not, is it possible
that your power flickered just enough to cause your machine to shut down? I
know VCRs and some alarm clocks have a battery so that they don't "blink"
after a flicker, so you might not have any other device in the house that
would "tell" you if the power went off briefly. Of course, plugging into a
UPS means that a flicker wouldn't do that to your Mac...

If you *are* plugged into a UPS, how old is it? Is it possible the battery
is needing changed?

peace,
Linda
