[X4U] UDF write support in OS X w/o 3rd party tools

Does anyone know if 10.4.2 supports writing to CDs with the UDF  
filesystem format without requiring a 3rd-party program like Toast?   
That seems like a better format for CD-RWs and incremental backups,  
as you aren't forced to write the entire disc at once.  If it is  
possible, how do you do it?
