[X4U] CD not appearing on the desktop

Hi,

I've popped in a dvd in my mini mac superdrive to watch, and its not appearing on the desktop and the dvd player in osx says theres no disk. However, the Disk Utility is showing the disc as being there and is showing the correct title.

Any idea why the disk utility is showing it as being present but its not being picked up elsewhere?
