Well, once you view the Aperture QT intros, and if nothing stands out to you as superior to PS then I would say that you don't need it. I don't see it as a replacement, as Aperture (ver 1) has no layers and cannot do the creative aspects of image making. But it looks way superior to PS when it comes to dealing with images/ photos from a professional standpoint. I would still use PS as an external editor and creative collage application. ANd then use Aperture as my main Photo collector. The book compositing alone seems really useful. And the web site gallery function seems very useful.
