[X4U] Connecting to an Active Directory but the original item couldn't be found

I am having problems connecting to a Windows 2003 Active Directory 
server. It did work in days gone past but lately, I consistently get 
this error: The alias <ServerName> could not be opened, because the 
original item could not be found. I am trying to connect by clicking 
on the Network icon in the Finder. From there it shows me the domain, 
and then the Server.  Pressing the Connect button gives me the 
Authentication window but that is where my User Name Password entry 
results in the above error message.

I was hoping that the fixes in 10.3.4 would make this go away but it 
didn't. I have dumped my Keychain in the thoughts that that might 
help. Any other ideas?
