Cloning an entire HD, w/about 15 GB, takes 20-40 minutes using Carbon Copy Cloner, SuperDuper!, or something similar. I stopped doing incrementals (home computer, not business associated) because doing the dance to determine what's changed takes about the same amount of time. I also do complete clones about once a week. For things like iPhoto and iTunes libraries, just drag and drop on a daily basis to another volume; you don't need to use any backup software. Just MHO.
