[X4U] Do you REALLY need matching memory in a Mini?

I just found the test which compared a MacMini with a 1.66 GHz Core
Duo vs. AOpen's cebop scope, basically a Mac Mini clone running at
2.0 GHz. (Both ran Windows XP to rule out the OS from the equation.)

As expected the cebop was faster for Office applications.
But for the 3Dmark 2003 the Mac Mini scored 1765 vs. 1137 of the cebop!
For 3Dmark 2006 it was even 268 over 119.
And the results translate to Quake 3: 118 over 77 in favor of the Mac
Mini.

(Both use the Intel GMA 900 graphics.)

By the way. The cebop was also significantly louder than the Mac
Mini, probably due to the faster CPU.

As for graphics: Actually the latest built-in graphics are not that
bad as they used to be and leave many previously high-end cards
behind. Of course, extra card with the latest GPUs are still
considerably faster. But then, not many people will notice that
unless they do something that is really focusing on GPU work.
