Do you have iTunes 6.0.2? Have you tried Cmd-Shift-M? The keyboard shortcut opens or closes the MiniStore pane at the bottom of the songlist. When the MiniStore pane is open, every time you select different songs by different artists i.e. go from "If Not for You" by Bob Dylan (New Morning) to "If Not for You" by George Harrison (All Things Must Pass) the selections in the MiniStore change to [sorta] reflect the differences. Close the MiniStore pane and it stops recommending new music.
