Well, the first public beta of Lightroom has garnered some nice reviews, and Apple's work on Aperture was pretty "hush-hush" until shortly before its own program was released. One reviewer pointed out that Lightroom's use of Adobe Camera Raw rather than CoreImage (with mandatory hardware acceleration) made the Adobe product work with more cameras (there's a review on Macintouch that mentions this, I think). Also, Lightroom doesn't bundle everything into one huge database. I've not explored it yet, but that's a real concern with Aperture. I don't think the release of Lightroom means that Adobe and Apple are bosom buddies again, and the demise of FrameMaker on the Mac while it's still actively supported and developed on the PC is strong evidence of the testy relationship.\ Jim Robertson --
