[X4U] Persistent Network connections

Have you tried the same technique that works for AFP shares? Make the  
connection to the shares while logged in, then drag the icons for the  
shares to the login items window in the accounts preference pane for  
your account. I'm at work and don't have access to any SMB shares to  
confirm. On next login, you will be asked to confirm connection to  
the shares.
